Home Liposuction Death Myth. Real or Hoax.

March 22nd, 2010

Since I am a large guy I watched this one thinking there is no way anyone could possibly be this desperate to try a home liposuction. That is what this urban legend is about a home liposuction job gone horribly wrong. A rather large man who had tried almost everything else to lose weight from diet to constantly working out without any results. Looking through one of his diet magazines he sees and ad for liposuction surgery. He decides to send away for an instructional video explaining how it works. A few weeks later the video comes in the mail and excited he brings it over to a friend’s house for a second opinion. Watching the video he starts to get second thoughts as to if he wants to do this procedure. A letter than came with the video had said that the procedure would cost $4000 which he can’t afford. His friend looks around his garage and quickly comes to the conclusion that he has the tools needed to do it himself. He pitches this option to his large friend and gets mixed results but after some time agrees to the home liposuction. Once things are in place for the procedure and the local anesthetic is applied things get underway. After a few minutes he begins to feel a little different and quickly goes pale and passes out. His friend quickly sees this and turns off his home made liposuction machine and learns that his friend is actually dead not just unconscious or asleep. An autopsy later revealed that it was the anesthetic that did him in and overdose of the drug which ended the homemade liposuction. Would someone actually trust a friend to do a home liposuction operation? Would someone actually consider doing any form of home surgery and if so what would posses them to do this?

Cat Up A Tree. Real or Hoax.

March 22nd, 2010

There is an age old story of firefighters being called to get a cat stuck up in a tree that the owners are unable to get on their own. Calling the firemen to help them is a smart choice as they have the ability to get in high places most other are unable to get to. This myth starts in a similar way, a cat is stuck up a tree out of the reach of the owners and neighbors. After many attempts to get the cat down with toys, food, treats and calm callings with no results. The cat just seems to be content sitting up in the tree out of the reach of it’s owners. One of the neighbors who came to help came up with what seemed to be a rather smart idea. The idea was to take string and throw it around the branch that the cat is so happily perched on. Then once the string is wrapped around the branch to pull it down making the branch bow in such a way that the owner would be able to pull the cat down into their arms safely. But there was a flaw in their logic, that is once the cat is just at the reach of the owners finger tips the string breaks and launches the cat flying into the air. Half a mile down the block a family that has just moved into the neighborhood is in the backyard enjoying the fresh air. Suddenly the cat that was flung into the air lands right in front of the child who was sitting on the grass in his backyard. The lucky kid had wanted a pet cat for sometime but his parents were slow on getting around to bringing home a cat. Is it possible the child’s prayers were answered on that day? Could the cat have survived being thrown that far and land perfectly without injury?
