In a small English village of Thirsk there is a legend of a 'chair of death' but could it be just a legend or mere happenstance? The legend started back in 1669 when a man named Thomas Busby was on trial and convicted of murder. On his way to the gallows was granted a last request one last pint of ale in his favorite chair at his favorite pub. When finished the condemned man gathered himself for the hangman, pointed to the chair, and let his voice ring out "may sudden death come to anyone who dares sit in my chair." The legend states that anyone who dare sit in that chair will meet an unexpected end usually shortly after sitting in the chair. There are many different stories of people sitting in the chair, but no story talks of any escape of the chairs deadly grasp. The bartender owners always had people sit in the chair and meet an unexpected end and it seemed it was a never ending phenomenon but there is an end in sight. The chair was taken out of the pub and put on display 5 feet off the ground in the local museum and the chair is left hung up on the wall never being taken down not even for cleaning.
Could there really be a chair that is cursed and passes on the same fate as the last man who sat in it? Would you ever dare to sit in this chair for any reason?
