In the remote Spanish village of Belmez a truly amazing phenomena first occurred in 1971 and, from what I have read, has been reoccurring for some 30 years. While cooking one day Maria Gometh, I may have the spelling wrong due to poor audio quality of the video, noticed a face on her floor. She thought nothing of it at first as she had a fever when she first saw the face. A few days later she saw the face again and knew the first time she saw it was not because of her fever. Alerted by the press the site of the faces was quickly swarmed with scientists and visitors from around the globes to study or just see the faces. An investigation revealed that Maria’s house was built on a graveyard and under the image of the face human remains were found. The floor was replaced after the remains were removed and even more faces began to appear. Some of the faces on the floor were clear and fairly easy to see, some others were faint and distorted while a few were familiar looking. Some of Maria’s neighbors had pointed out that there was a skilled artist living in the village but investigations never revealed any connection between the artist and the faces. Petro Sogrob, again sorry the spelling may be wrong again due to poor audio quality, is a parapsychologist who investigated the case. He believed that there was a link between Maria and the faces on her floor in more ways than just having them follow her. The faces seemed to leave when Maria was not in the house, seemed to be weaker when her spirits were down or when she was tired. No traces of any chemicals or dyes were ever found leading to the conclusion of no human intervention. The faces did not follow her in any other house just in her own personal home. Maria Gometh unfortunately died in February 2004 at the age of 85 and one of the last things she said was "I would like them (the faces) to come with me, after all they gave me so much company throughout my life, so I would like them to keep me company in the next world, so that people can see what happened in her home is not fraud and that it is real." When Maria died the faces were expected to vanish and disappear without a trace, but they did something much stranger, they resurfaced in a nearby home where Maria was born adding one final twist to her own ghost story.
