Some people know this urban legend inside and out where as others are hearing it for the first time. James Dean was killed in a car crash in 1955 while driving his porche spyder; it was a head on collision. Parts from his car were later sold and used in other cars but was there curse that come with them? Here is a list of some of the accidents that happened around the car or the sold parts from the car.

1. A car designer plans to sell the car for parts. While in his possession, the car rolls off the back of a truck and break a mechanics legs.
2. A Beverly Hills doctor buys the Dean engine and uses it to replace the engine in his porche. The doctor is killing in a crash the first time he takes the car out.
3. Another doctor buy's the Dean transmission. He is later seriously injured in a car crash.
4. A person buys two of the Dean tires. His car crashes when both tires mysteriously blow out at the same time.

Could all of these events be just a coincidence or is it actually possible that parts from the Dean Porche could actually have been haunted. Here is my take:
James Dean died in a head on collision in the same spyder that the parts were sold from. This could very well explain why the two doctors got into car accidents as it is possible that the engine and transmission were damaged in the Dean accident. As for the first one well it did happen about 50 years ago and they may not have had the best methods for transporting a car. It could have been sitting on the back of a truck with the parking break on and nothing more which would make it very easy to roll since there may not have been much left of the brake system. The two tires blowing out at the same time however is a little trickier for me to explain. I can't think of a way that 2 tired would blow out at the same time unless they were somehow damaged in the original crash but no one noticed before they were sold. jkcinema has a video on this urban legend and that is where my information came from. You can watch the video; it is the second story on the video, by clicking this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBeyL03a ... PL&index=1

While searching around the internet today I came across this website http://www.snopes.com/autos/cursed/spyder.asp and it adds a little more information into the urban legend to 'James Dean's Porche Spyder'. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of information but this does add names and a little more about the legend than my pervious post. The information below is not all new to me I knew that the engine was bought by a doctor but the website mentioned above added his name and date of death. What happened to the shell of the car is new to me I didn't know that another person had died while transporting the shell and that it has not been recovered yet.

The doctor who bought the engine was a Beverly Hills doctor and his name was Troy Mchenry and he died on October 22nd 1956 during an automobile race at Pomona Fairground near Los Angeles. According to the website the Dean engine may not have been in that car and I am still unsure if the name and date is accurate but I will research it further.

The Shell of the Dean car was being transported to a road safety exhibition in Salinas when the truck skidded and crashed. The driver was killed. Stolen from the scene was the Dean shell and has not been recovered since. This is a new piece of information to me about this particular urban legend.

One of the things that made little sense to me is how, if the accident was a head on collision, the parts that were sold could be used in other cars without major work done to them. I have found new evidence that it was not a head on colision but a sideways hit driver side to driver side, not quite sure how this would work but it does seem to be a better fit. I found this evidence on http://www.franksreelreviews.com/shortt ... esdean.htm and http://www.network54.com/Forum/442527/m ... s+accident.

There are many other claims that a teenager ended up having either a broken leg or hip while it was on display to show teenagers the affects of speeding. Some have said that Dean was speeding the night of his accident despite the many warnings he got that night. Some have said that before any of the parts were sold that while hauling the car it claimed 2 lives and injured at least 1 other. There are so many claims to other possible incidents involving the Dean car that it makes me believe that none of them are true. Each time I hear a different story the original curse gets less and less credibility in my eyes due the fact that so many people a reporting different stories. If so many people see things happening different way perhaps then it is just a myth and there is no truth to the urban legend. Well the truth is for you to decide I will continue to add new information as I find it and as always reference the website where I found the information so you can read it for yourself. This information may or may not be accurate and I make not claim to its authenticity and neither does the creator of the website where I found this information it is posted for you to decide.

Another part of JD's car, what was left of it, from what I've read, in several books, was the truck taking the shell of the car, both vanished and were never found. :?:

Yeah I had heard about that but I never found any evidence to back it up I have heard many different endings. There are many other possibilities and other claims that are linked to the Spyder but there seems to be little evidence to back any of them up.

Maybe there is something to it and it goes beyond the typical confines of what we think of as "urban legends".

Some people would argue that it is all just coincidence or happenstance but I dont think that all these things could all be linked to the same car without there being something more to it. Unless someone is making these claims just to get attention or make more money meaning it is a false claim. I would hope that something that has been talked about so much is based on fact rather than fiction.
